USA Basketball announced today the 2022 USA Men’s and Women’s 3x3 AmeriCup teams. Both teams will attend training camp Oct. 31-Nov. 3 in Miami Lakes, Florida, before competing at the 2022 FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup, set for Nov. 4-6 in Miami. The USA swept the 2021 FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup, winning a pair of gold medals at the inaugural event.

Each team is comprised of four athletes who bring a combination of USA Basketball (5-on-5 and 3x3), professional and collegiate basketball experience.

The 2022 3x3 Women’s AmeriCup Team includes Veronica Burton, Lexie Hull, NaLyssa Smith and Camille Zimmerman. Burton (Dallas Wings), Hull (Indiana Fever) and Smith (Fever) recently completed their WNBA rookie seasons.

The 2022 3x3 Men’s AmeriCup Team includes Canyon Barry, Jimmer Fredette, Kareem Maddox and Dylan Travis.

On the women’s side, Burton and Hull were members of the 2022 USA 3x3 Women’s U23 World Cup Team, which won the silver medal earlier this month at the 2022 FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup in Romania. Zimmerman, a member of Force 10, has played the last two summers on the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series, competing as a member of EXEWing on the 2022 series.

Smith, who will make her 3x3 debut, has been a member of USA Basketball (5-on-5) since 2016. A 2018 FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship gold medalist, Smith was recently a finalist for the 2022 USA Women’s World Cup Team.

On the men’s team, Barry and Maddox, who play together on Team Princeton, have extensive USA Basketball experience. Both have competed with USA Basketball since 2019, including winning gold at the 2019 FIBA 3x3 World Cup and the 2021 3x3 AmeriCup. Maddox also won gold at the 2019 Pan American Games and was a member of the 2021 USA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying team.

While Travis will make his USA Basketball national team debut, he is a longtime member of 3Ball Omaha, playing on domestic and international 3x3 circuits, including winning the 2021 Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals title.

Fredette, the 10^th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, made his 3x3 debut at the 2022 Red Bull USA Basketball East Regional earlier this month. His team, NYC Blue, went undefeated and won the event. Fredette was a member of the USA Basketball Men's Select Team (5-on-5) which trained against the 2010 USA Basketball Men's National Team during its Las Vegas training camp.

The teams will be helmed by Fran Fraschilla and Jen Rizzotti, who last summer coached USA Basketball’s respective entries in the FIBA 3x3 Men’s World Tour and FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series. 

The FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup will feature 31 teams. A total of 18 teams will compete in the men's category. The USA will start competition in Pool A alongside Guatemala and Brazil. Thirteen teams will participate in the women's category. The U.S. drew into Pool A with Guyana and Colombia. The top two teams in each pool will qualify to a direct elimination bracket, starting with the quarterfinals. For more information, click here.
