United States Advances to Quarterfinals at 2022 FIBA 3x3 Women’s World Cup
Bucharest, Romania -- The United States advanced to the knockout stage at the 2022 FIBA 3x3 U23 Women’s World Cup in Bucharest, Romania after closing pool play with two wins on Friday. The U.S. topped Japan, 20-14, and beat Mongolia, 21-12, to advance to the quarterfinals with a perfect record through four games.
In the opening game versus Japan, Lexie Hull led the United States in scoring with 15 points. After a tight start to the game, the United States closed on a 7-1 run to seal the win.
Hull leads the tournament in scoring with 43 total points.
In its 21-12 win over Mongolia, Emily Engstler scored 15 points, including three 2-pointers. The United States opened the game on a 12-4 run and held a comfortable lead throughout. The game marked the fastest of the tournament so far, with the U.S. grabbing victory in just 7:04.
N’dea Jones left the United States’ game against Japan with a leg injury. She did not play versus Mongolia.
