Pools Announced for 2023 Men’s and Women’s FIBA 3x3 World Cup
Pools were announced Wednesday for the 2023 Men’s and Women’s FIBA 3x3 World Cup, set for Vienna, Austria, from May 30-June 4.
The U.S. men, who are looking to return to the podium after an absence in 2022, are joined by Latvia, Austria, Australia and an opponent to-be-determined in Pool B. Latvia took home the gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo, while the Australians are reigning Asia Cup champions. The U.S. won the event once (2019).
Serbia (Pool A) won gold for the men at the 2022 FIBA 3x3 World Cup.
The USA women, who have won the event twice (2012, 2014), will be joined in Pool C by Canada, Mongolia, Hungary and an opponent to-be-determined. Canada finished second at the event in 2022. The U.S. finished off the podium in 2022 but are the reigning Olympic gold medalists in the event.
France (Pool A) won gold for the women last summer.
In all, 20 men’s teams and 20 women’s teams will take the court in Austria.
