The 2015 USA Basketball Women’s U16 National Team jumped to an 8-0 lead and never looked back in its bronze medal 81-24 victory over host Mexico in the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship on Sunday night in Puebla, Mexico.

After fighting back from being down by as many as 22 points in the game to within six points in the fourth quarter, the USA Women’s U16 National Team’s comeback attempt fell short against Brazil, and the USA lost 72-63 in the semifinals of the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.

The USA Basketball Women’s U16 National Team secured a No. 1 seed into the semifinals of the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship with an impressive 85-44 win over host Mexico that saw the USA win the rebounding battle 70-23, score 50 points in the paint and limit its opponent to just 25.9 percent shooting from the field.

The process for the 12 members of the 2015 USA Basketball Women’s U16 National Team began back on May 21 when they first tried out for the team as one of 149 athletes, so it should come as no surprise that now on June 23, one day before the team plays its first game, every one is anxious to take the court.

The twelve players who will represent the United States at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship as members of the 2015 USA Basketball Women’s U16 National Team today were announced, following four days of trials that began on May 21 with 149 players taking part at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
