Viewing: Jalen Brunson

In honor of his MVP showing at the FIBA U19 World Championship, Jalen Brunson today was named the 2015 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year.

Featuring balanced scoring that saw 11 of 12 players score, including four in double digits, the USA Men’s U19 World Championship Team rolled to an 86-75 victory over Argentina on June 24 in a warm-up game for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship.

Trailing by as many as 14 points in the first half, the USA fought its way back to a three-point lead in the fourth quarter but could not contain the World Team’s Jamal Murray, who led the international squad to a 103-101 win with 30 points in the 2015 Nike Hoop Summit.

USA HEAD COACH ERIC FLANNERY (St. Edward High School, Ohio) Opening Statement: “First of all, a great game. Whenever a game, no matter what level, comes down to the last possession, it shows both teams competing and how much they wanted to win. What I was really, really impressed with with...

When Jalen Brunson, who will play for the USA in the 2015 Nike Hoop Summit, first picked up a basketball at just 5 years old, his parents expected him to follow in their athletic footsteps. They likley did not expect, however, just how tremendously talented their son would grow to be 13 years later.

Featuring 11 players who won gold medals with USA Basketball in 2014, the 2015 USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Select Team that will take on the World Select Team in the 18th Nike Hoop Summit will be the most-experienced U.S. roster ever fielded for the event.
