The FIBA U17 World Cup for Women, which is held every two years, originated in 2010. In the five editions of the U17 World Cup, the USA captured four gold medals (2010, 2012, 2014, 2018) and one bronze medal (2016) and owns an all-time record at the event of 36-1. The next FIBA U17 World Cup was scheduled to be contested Aug. 15-23, 2020, in Romania. However, it has been cancelled due to the worldwide pandemic. FIBA is examining the possibility of holding the event in 2021.
