Q. How may I obtain a certificate of insurance?

Q. Why was my license revoked?

A. To maintain a USA Basketball Coach License, you must follow the coaches code of conduct and stay in good standing with all license requirements. Please contact us directly via phone (719) 590-4800 or e-mail if you have any additional questions.

Q. As an international coach, may I apply for a USA Basketball Coach License?

Q. How can I get involved with USA Basketball?

A. There are a number of ways to get involved with USA Basketball, such as volunteer opportunities at events, hosting an Open Court program or creating a customized E-Learning plan for your organization. Click HERE to find out how.

Q. Do I have to take the same courses each year?

A. Each season, coaches need to complete a new background screen to be eligible for the duration of the license year. In addition, appropriate courses will be loaded onto your dashboard if you are a new coach or a renewing coach. Courses may be full versions or refresher versions based on your license history.

Q. What does the Coach General Liability insurance cover?

A. USA Basketball provides general liability insurance to all licensed coaches in good standing. You must be an actively licensed coach and your players must have their own participant accident coverage to order for coverage to apply. Click HERE for a full description of insurance.

Q. What are the background check factors that would result in an applicant being ineligible to receive a USA Basketball Coach License?

A. USA Basketball Youth Development will review and compare the results of your background check against our license qualifying criteria to determine your eligibility. If you do not meet licensing eligibility standards you will be notified through the contact information you provided. USA Basketball Youth Development will receive monthly updates, which will ensure all coaches and administrators are in good standing throughout the duration of their license. At any point the coach or administrator is found to be ineligible, their license becomes invalid. You can find a list of automatic and potential disqualifying items HERE.

Q. Which license do I need to start my NCAA certification process?

A. You will need the USA Basketball Gold Coach License to use the NCAA's Basketball Certification System (BBCS). Once you have obtained your gold coach license, your information will be sent to the NCAA and verified in their system. Please allow one to two business days for this transfer to occur. 

You also will need to register on the NCAA's BBCS, where you will provide your eight-digit USA Basketball license number. This number only appears once you have completed the license process. Q. What is your refund policy for the coach license?

A. Due to the service costs of the license, no refunds will be issued once any of the licensing components have been started.
