Open Court Program Details

Who can play?

How does it work?

  • Facilities open their doors for 12 sessions throughout the program. Meeting times will vary from site to site.

  • Children attend a designated one or two hour time slot based on age

  • All participants must submit a waiver signed by a parent or guardian before participating in their first session

  • Weekly attendance and points are tracked by the program registrar

  • USA Basketball will give away prizes to participants based on total points earned

How do I register?

  • Head to your local Open Court facility at the scheduled time for your age group. Facility dates and times can be found HERE

  • Sign in on your facility’s stat sheet

  • A parent or guardian must complete a waiver prior to each participant’s first session

  • Stat sheets will track your weekly attendance and any buddies brought (up to the 10 buddy limit)

What takes place during the sessions?

  • The purpose of the sessions are to encourage free play, inclusion, development and fun through basketball

  • Open Court sessions are designed to emphasize the concept of playground basketball

  • Each Open Court program will be supervised by USA Basketball licensed coaches

  • Court monitors may offer different options to participate in basketball activities, such as stations, 3x3 and small-sided games, five-on-five competition and other basketball-related games

How do participants earn points?

  • Participants earn points by attending weekly sessions. Also, bonus points may be earned when a player brings a friend, makes a post on social media or has perfect attendance.

  • GAME TIME – attend an Open Court session

    • 100 points earned each session

    DOUBLE DOUBLE – bring a buddy

    • 50 points earned for each friend brought, up to 500 additional points / 10 friend limit

    SHOUT OUT – make a social media post

    • An additional 100 point bonus when you make a one-time tweet or post using the hashtag #USABOpenCourt and show it to the program registrar

    LIGHTS OUT – perfect attendance

    • Score an extra 300 points when you attend all 12 sessions of the program

At the end of the 12 sessions, participants can trade in points earned for custom USA Basketball Youth Development and Nike prizes!
