Q- What are regional camps?

A- USA Basketball regional camps provide players with the opportunity to improve their individual skills through on-court sessions led by USA Basketball Licensed Coaches. Camp sessions emphasize basketball fundamentals through station work, group drills and games. This competitive and developmentally appropriate environment is suitable for players of all ability levels.

Q- What skill level must a player have to participate in a regional camp?

A- Regional camps are open to players of all skill levels and abilities. Camps are designed to improve individual skills for any player seeking to make their school or club teams.

Q- Are regional camps a part of National Team trials?

A- The primary goals of regional camps are skill development and individual improvement - they are not a part of National Team trials; however, if talent is recognized as National Team quality, it could result in an invitation to a future trial from USA Basketball.

Q- What are the eligibility requirements for regional camps?

A - Eligibility requirements are different for each camp. Middle school camps are open to athletes ages 11-13, while high school camps are offered to athletes ages 14-17 Please visit the camp’s event page for specific eligibility requirements.

Q- Who are the coaches for regional camps?

A- All USA Basketball regional camps are hosted and operated by the USA Basketball Youth Division. USA Basketball will select staff to serve as court coaches and all court coaches will be USA Basketball Licensed Coaches.

Q- What are players responsible for providing at camps?

A- Players are responsible for the following:

  • Transportation to and from the gym

  • Lodging

  • All meals

  • Registration fee

  • All clothing and basketball shoes (jersey provided by USA Basketball)

Q- What are the benefits of attending a regional camp?

A- There are many benefits to regional camps including:

  • The opportunity to improve your individual basketball skills

  • Practicing unique drills, strategies and skill sets in a developmentally appropriate environment with a schedule designed by USA Basketball

  • Competing with players from across the country

  • Learning from USA Basketball Licensed Coaches

  • Association with USA Basketball - the National Governing Body of the sport in the United States
