Championships Divisions

• 10th Grade:
  
  • 1. Athletes cannot turn 17 prior to September 1, 2020 OR
  • 2. Grade exception: Athletes must be enrolled in the 10th grade or below (as of October 1, 2019) AND cannot turn 18 prior to September 1, 2020
• 9th Grade:
  • 1. Athletes cannot turn 16 prior to September 1, 2020 OR
  • 2. Grade exception: Athletes must be enrolled in the 9th grade or below (as of October 1, 2019) AND cannot turn 17 prior to September 1, 2020
• 13U - Athletes cannot turn 14 prior to September 1, 2020 (age division, no grade exceptions)
• 12U - Athletes cannot turn 13 prior to September 1, 2020 (age division, no grade exceptions)

*Players may only be included on one roster at the event. Players cannot play for multiple teams.

Team Entry Fee

• Team entry fee: $500.
• Multi-team offer: Post-tournament credit for programs registering 3+teams.

• All coaches added to roster and hold valid USA Basketball coach license

*Teams must complete verification by the July 10th deadline.  USA Basketball is not required to place a team on the competition schedule if a verified roster has not been submitted by this deadline.

Coach and Bench Personnel Eligibility
All coaches and bench personnel participating in the U.S. Open Basketball Championships must have a valid USA Basketball Coach License on file with USA Basketball throughout the duration of the championships.  Either the gold or associate license is acceptable. To obtain a coach license, visit: https://community.usab.com.

Team Eligibility
All participating teams are required to complete age and/or grade verification in order to be eligible based on the criteria above. Once the tournament entry fee is submitted, the verification process will be completed by following the steps outlined on the website. Player age and grade verification is conducted by National Sports ID.

Roster Size
Teams may have a maximum of 15 personnel, including players and coaches, on their roster. Team rosters must consist at minimum 1 licensed coach and at maximum 14 players. Players may only be included on one roster at the event. Players cannot play for multiple teams.

Team Check-in
All teams should be prepared to play at any time on Wednesday, July 15, the official first day of the tournament. Team check-in must be completed to first game.

Dress Code
All bench personnel, both male and female, must adhere to the coaches dress code by wearing a shirt with a collar, dress pants, slacks or khaki pants, dress shorts or khaki shorts or dress skirts and closed-toe shoes. 

Prohibited attire while sitting on bench:

• Sandals
• Open-toed shoes
• Hats or head attire (unless religious headwear)
• Sweatpants, track pants, leggings, joggers
• Athletic shorts 

Team Dress
All teams are required to have both a light and dark jersey for each player. Players on the same team are not permitted to wear the same number. Jersey numbers must be clearly visible on the back of the jersey (preferably also on the front). If a team is not wearing the correct color jersey, a technical foul may be assessed for each player not in the proper uniform.

The 2020 U.S. Open Basketball Championships will be played by USA Basketball tournament rules.
