Online registration is open for five divisions of competition at the 2022 U.S. Open Basketball Championships that will take place July 13-17 in Indiana.
A. Register your team HERE! Registration requires basic team and coach information, acknowledgment of tournament standards and team entry fee. Submit one registration form per team.
Following registration, all teams will be sent instructions to complete roster verification on National Sports ID. The deadline to complete team verification is July 6, 2022. To be placed on the tournament schedule, a team must have its roster verified.
A. To ensure fair play and provide a safe competition environment, USA Basketball requires all teams to undergo roster verification of players and coaches/bench personnel. Roster verification includes:
All players must hold player accounts on National Sports ID (headshot photo, age verification documentation, school grade verification documentation) and receive eligibility verification;
All coaches/bench personnel must create coach accounts on National Sports ID and obtain a USA Basketball Coach License (either gold or associate level);
Players and coaches/bench personnel must ALL be listed on your National Sports ID roster and ALL sign the tournament waiver.
A. Grade verification will be proven by a school report card and age verification will be proven by either a birth certificate or passport. If alternate forms of verification are needed, the NSID team will guide you through approved options.
A. Tournament requirements include:
All coaches/bench personnel must hold a valid USA Basketball coach license prior to competition (either the gold or associate level);
All coaches/bench personnel must abide by the USA Basketball coaches code of conduct and SafeSport policies;
All athletes must be verified as eligible by the age and/or grade player segmentation criteria for the team’s division of competition;
Team rosters may not exceed 15 personnel in total, including all players and coaches. The roster must include at minimum 1 licensed coach and a maximum of 14 players;
Team must be ready to play at any time on Wednesday, July 13.
A. All registration transactions are final. There will be no refunds provided, unless the tournament must be cancelled by USA Basketball. Should a cancellation occur, USA Basketball will refund all entry fees.
A. For programs that are bringing 3 or more teams to this year’s U.S. Open Basketball Championships, all under the same program name, USA Basketball will offer a $50 refund per team upon successful participation of all teams at the championships.
Teams will each register upfront through the normal channel paying the $550 registration fee at onset, and listing the same organization/program affiliation name. Once the championships end, assuming all teams remain in good standing throughout, USA Basketball will process a return amount of $50 for each registration.
The multi-team discount cannot be combined with any early bird special pricing. The $50 refund will only apply to teams that paid $550.
A. All teams will have a four game guarantee which could take place in any of the rounds. The schedule layout will be determined based on final team sign ups. Typically, pool play falls on Wednesday-Friday and bracket play begins on Saturday. However, this is dependent on pool size and number of games. Advancement to Sunday is based on bracket play outcomes.
A. Yes. Any team, including international teams, can enter the U.S. Open Basketball Championships provided they meet the team eligibility criteria.
