In 2019, for the first time since launching in 2012, the Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals were held outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and took place at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center. USA Basketball is hoping to still be able to host the 2020 Red Bull 3X Nationals sometime this fall.
The qualification pathway to the the Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals includes two tiers: Red Bull 3X Local Tournaments and Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Regionals. 3x3 athletes and teams have the opportunity to compete in local events around the country to qualify for 3X regionals and the Red Bull USA Basketball 3X nationals. Prior to partnership with Red Bull, USA Basketball hosted the USA 3x3 National Championships at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, annually since 2012. Played on a half court, FIBA 3x3 rules have evolved since first launching in 2010. Currently, each field goal inside the arc is one point, while buckets launched from outside the arc are worth two points. The first team to score 21 points, or the team with the most points at the end of the 10-minute game, is declared the winner.
