USA Basketball Gold Camps

Q. WHAT ARE USA BASKETBALL GOLD CAMPS?

A. USA Basketball Gold Camps are advanced-level basketball camps for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade athletes. With skill instruction led by USA Basketball licensed coaches, players train and receive top coaching instruction to improve their individual skill set, 3x3 and 5x5 game play and character on and off the court. Gold Camps are a place to get better by competing with and against top talent across the country.

Q. WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR GOLD CAMPS?

A.

  • Athletes must have been enrolled in 6th, 7th , or 8th grade as of October 1, 2022, of the 2022-2023 school year.
  • Athletes cannot be older than 16 at time of camp.

Q. HOW DO I SUBMIT AN APPLICATION?

A. Apply online through each camp’s registration page:

Applications require basic player and parent information along with supporting documents to showcase the athlete’s character and skills.

Following submission, all applications will be reviewed with responses sent within 14 days. Accepted athletes will be required to submit payment to confirm their spot.

Q. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PITTSBURGH GOLD CAMPS AND THE REST OF THE CAMPS OFFERED?

A. 2023 Gold Camps held in Pittsburgh are extended camp curriculm that include two full days of on-court time and off-court leadership, three meals across camp days, camp jersey, shorts, backpack and shooting shirt, and a personalized player report card. Registration for extended Gold Camps is $265.00.

Standard Gold Camps, held in Atlanta, Houston, and Omaha, follow a day and a half format consisting of on-court play, off-court leadership and character building, one meal and camp jersey, shorts, and backpack. The registration for each of these camps is $185.00.

Q. WHAT TAKES PLACE AT CAMP DURING ON AND OFF-COURT SESSIONS?

A. Athletes at Gold Camps will receive on-court skill instruction and off-court leadership development. Athletes will engage in drills involving footwork, ball handling, passing, and shooting along with live game play of 3x3 and 5x5. Off-court leadership development includes goal setting, how to represent yourself, what coaches look for during a recruiting process, and other leadership and character building that will make you and your teams better.

Q. CAN PARENTS OR SPECTATORS WATCH CAMP SESSIONS?

A. Each camp will have set times where parents and/or guardians can watch athletes play and also specific off-court sessions catered for parents and/or guardians in which to participate. Those times will be communicated via email as the camp date approaches.

Q. HOW CAN I APPLY TO BE A CAMP COACH?

A. If you are interested in being a camp coach, please fill out this FORM. If selected, a USA Basketball staff member will reach out with next steps.

Q. ARE GOLD CAMPS TIED TO USA BASKETBALL JUNIOR NATIONAL TEAMS?

A. Gold Camps are not associated with the USA Basketball Junior National Teams. Athletes who attend Gold Camps may get noticed by USA Basketball staff which could lead to future opportunities, but camps are not a try out or prerequisite for the men's or women's USA Junior National Team program.

Q. CAN I APPLY TO MULTIPLE CAMPS? 

A. Skill instruction and off-court sessions at each camp may be similar, but each camp remains unique based off of the athletes involved and the coaches working the camp. Athletes can apply to multiple camps and have the opportunity to sharpen their skills and develop further as a leader. 

Q. WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?

A. All registration transactions are final. There will be no refunds provided, unless the camp must be canceled by USA Basketball. Should a cancellation occur, USA Basketball will refund all entry fees.

USA Basketball will host youth basketball clinics at Otero Elementary School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Wednesday, March 8. The on-court clinics will focus on fundamental skills in a fun environment for players of all levels and abilities.

Scholarships are available for the March 30 Women in the Game conference in Dallas.

Retired General Martin E. Dempsey, who was named USA Basketball chairman in 2016, touches on a wide range of topics including maintaining USA Basketball’s competitive edge to focusing on player safety to continuing to develop youth initiatives.

USA Basketball will conduct a Women in the Game conference from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. PDT on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas
